A new website has launched for Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil movie, confirming the adaptation will hit cinemas later this year.
Last year, Weapons director Zach Cregger announced he was working on a “faithful” Resident Evil movie that would take the franchise back to its survival horror roots. In August, Austin Abrams was announced as the lead of the “weird, fun, wild story.”
A new website has now launched that features a decaying logo for the Resident Evil film alongside a release date – September 18, 2026.

Cregger previously told EW that his Resident Evil movie will tell an “entirely original” story but he doesn’t think fans of the games will be left disappointed. “I respect the games enough where I’m going to tell a Resident Evil story in the Resident Evil canon that still leaves everything they love intact from the games.”
In another interview with SFX, Cregger said that he’s played every Resident Evil game but has avoided watching the previous movie adaptations. “I’m trying to tell a story that just feels authentic to the experience you get when you play the games. I don’t think I’m breaking any major rules,” he explained. “But I also recognize that no matter what I do, people are going to come for me online.”
Sony hasn’t publicly released a trailer for the Resident Evil movie yet but one was shown at CinemaCon earlier this year. According to Bloody Disgusting, the film follows Austin Abrams’ Bryan, “a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in a nonstop race for survival as one fateful, horrifying night collapses around him in chaos.” Some attendees have compared it to Mad Max: Fury Road.
In other news, KoRn have shared a gory, animated music video for their Diablo 4: Lord Of Hatred anthem ‘Reward The Scars’.
