Anna Wintour’s loyalty is not to be tested — and celebrities who have crossed her dear friends have found themselves persona non grata at the Met Gala, Page Six is told. Just ask Meghan Markle and Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham.
While Romeo Beckham, 23, made his Met debut after being invited by Burberry, Page Six is told that Wintour froze out married couple Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz Beckham for the past two years amid their epic fallout with the boys’ parents, David and Victoria Beckham.
Brooklyn, 27, and the 31-year-old actress attended the bash in 2021, 2022 and 2023, and he also went solo in 2024.
Wintour has long been friends with David and Victoria and regularly attends Victoria’s fashion shows.
‘Anna is exceedingly loyal,” said a fashion show, “She’s been close friends with the Beckhams for years … she’s the first one in the door at Victoria’s shows. And while it was rumored Brooklyn and Nicola were invited last year, that never happened. Anna protects her friends.”
Wintour even flew to London to attend the October 2023 premiere of David’s Netflix doc-series, “Beckham” — and, as we recently reported, is now working with the doc’s director, Fisher Stevens, after meeting him through the Beckhams. Stevens was on hand this week to record footage of Wintour and Vogue editor Chloe Malle getting ready for the Met Gala.
Meanwhile, Wintour’s fondness for Queen Camilla has influenced her opinion of Markle, Page Six is told.
“[Prince] Harry and Meghan have never been invited,” confirmed a source of the couple, who have publicly complained about their treatment behind palace walls.
“Even if they were,” the source added. “I don’t think they’d want to pay to go.”
During the queen and King Charles’ US tour last week, Dame Anna, 76, greeted Queen Camilla 78, with kisses on both cheeks at a reception at the New York Public Library.
As Page Six witnessed, the pair appeared thrilled to see one another. Wintour also joined the royal couple and a host of stars at a swanky reception for the King’s Trust at Christie’s in Midtown.
The Vogue doyenne is close friends with the royal family and visited Camilla at Clarence House in London in February to mark the opening of London Fashion Week. Wintour has long backed Camilla and Charles, famously writing of the queen in 2002 that she looked “marvelous” and “What a difference being in love makes.”
There have also long been rumors that Markle, 44, irked Wintour by cozying up to then British Vogue editor Edward Enninful, who had the Duchess of Sussex guest-edit a 2019 issue — only for the two to fall out in 2022 after she didn’t get the September cover of the magazine.
As Page Six reported, Markle appealed to Wintour over Zoom asking to be on the cover of both the US and UK editions, but, a source said, Anna wasn’t interested.”
Wintour, meanwhile, is also personally responsible for inviting Blake Lively to the ball and seated the actress at her own table, we can reveal, just hours after Lively settled her $60 million court case with her “It Ends With Us” co-star and director Justin Baldoni.
As Page Six reported, tickets for the extravaganza, which raises money for the Anna Wintour Costume Center at the Metropolitan Museum, this year cost $100,000, while a full table started at around $350,000. Wintour raised a record-breaking $42 million with this week’s event.
