Zendaya is reportedly staying far away from Sydney Sweeney during the Euphoria press tour!
Ever since The Housemaid star’s controversial American Eagle ad, there have been whispers that the co-stars are locked in a “bitter feud.” Zendaya allegedly wants nothing to do with Sydney because of the latter’s alleged views. The Anyone But You actress has faced a good amount of controversy in her career so far, including for attending a MAGA-adjacent birthday party and starring in that jeans advertisement for American Eagle, which many slammed for what they viewed as promoting eugenics and white supremacy.

Her lackluster response to the controversy, as well as the reports that she’s a registered Republican, didn’t help matters much. But it turns out their feud goes beyond their different political views. More on that in a moment.
While Zendaya and Sydney have not addressed the rumored tension (and don’t expect them to right now), fans got all the confirmation they needed recently! People noticed last month that Sydney was missing from a photo shoot with all the leading ladies of Euphoria promoting the third season. Look:
The two women then seemingly completely avoided each other at the season premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles on Tuesday night! Sydney took pictures with her fellow castmates, including Maude Apatow, Alexa Demie, and Hunter Schafer. See HERE. However, none with Zendaya! In fact, The Drama actress arrived late to the premiere and narrowly avoided a run-in with Sydney! Zendaya also skipped the official after-party at a luxury Los Angeles hotel later that night!
It comes as no surprise to everyone, though! Even the higher-ups know to keep their interactions very limited at this point! An insider told The Sun this week:
“Euphoria bosses are all too aware the pair do not get along. There were tensions way back … Their paths barely crossed during the making of Season 3. During the press tour, any interactions between the pair are being kept to a minimum to avoid any awkward encounters on camera. There is a complete ban on journalists asking about tensions between Zendaya and Sydney.”
Although the pair won’t say a word about what is going on, the insider is shedding light on what happened between them. Their reported political differences caused friction between them, as you know. The source said:
“It’s not like they have had a big bust-up, but Zendaya has quietly distanced herself from Syd. Their politics are wildly different. It’s a bit of a headache because Zendaya doesn’t want to be associated with a Trump supporter.”
Zendaya has been outspoken against Donald Trump for years. Meanwhile, Sydney thinks it is “surreal” to get support from the President and Vice President JD Vance following her jean ad scandal. While it wasn’t exactly a total endorsement for POTUS, the continued hesitance to outright deny support for him says a lot. Goes to show just how different they are! You wouldn’t catch Z for a second giving that answer for those two extremely problematic men!
But apparently there’s more to it than that. The main reason for their beef may actually be way more personal than anyone could have thought! According to the source, Sydney would flirt with Tom Holland — Zendaya’s fiancé or (maybe?) now-husband when he visited the Euphoria set! Ick!
“It was an open secret that Sydney had the hots for Tom and was flirty with him when he would come to set. That did not go down well with Zendaya. They have not really hung out socially since then.”
Wow. If that’s true, that is not ‘girl’s girl’ behavior! You don’t flirt with your friend’s man! WTF?! Because of all this, the source feels there will never be an end to Zendaya and Sydney’s feud:
“There will be a sigh of relief when ‘Euphoria’ is over and they can go their separate ways. But they both have decades left in Hollywood and this rivalry will inevitably run and run.”
Soooooo, don’t plan on these two ever working together again? Well, maybe there’s still hope… See, a source close to the situation shut the report down to Page Six on Wednesday! They fired back:
“They’re both in high demand and working continuously.”
Hmm… while that’s true, it’s also not a total denial of any friction.
Though it should be noted that another insider said that Zendaya missed run-ins with the cast due to her late arrival, like Jacob Elordi, so not because she was actively trying to avoid anyone.
