Republicans Now Demand $1 BILLION In TAX-PAID DOLLARS For Trump's Ballroom After He Promised To Make It Without Tax Payer Money!

Unsurprisingly, Donald Trump is breaking another one of his promises.

Remember how the president is building a massive, brand-new ballroom in the White House — one he claimed is a $300 to $400 million “desperately needed” gift to America, courtesy of private donors and not taxpayer-funded. Welp! Looks like the “gift” part is all thrown out the window now! Well, mostly! The ballroom is still happening, but Republicans are currently demanding a whopping $1 BILLION and not from those supposed private donors! No, they’re asking for all of us to pay for it!

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley released a long-term immigration and border patrol funding bill that slipped in the $1 billion demand for security improvements accompanying the ballroom construction project. Yes, really. The legislation notes the money is reserved “for the purposes of security adjustments and upgrades, including within the perimeter fence of the White House Compound to support enhancements by the United States Secret Service relating to the East Wing Modernization Project, including above-ground and below-ground security features.”

People want affordable healthcare. People want to be able to afford their groceries, gas, rent, and more. Not a BILLION-DOLLAR BALLROOM! Be so for real right now.

This “reconciliation” bill is the top priority for a majority of Republicans this year and, of course, is supported by Trump. And after the recent assassination attempt, they’re arguing it’s “necessary.” White House spokesperson Davis Ingle told NBC News:

“Congress has rightly recognized the need for these funds. Due in part to the recent assassination attempt on President Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, the proposal would provide the United States Secret Service with the resources they need to fully and completely harden the White House complex, in addition to the many other critical missions for the USSS.”

While we can’t even afford gas and groceries like we used to?? Ridonkulous! What are your thoughts, Perezcious readers? Sound OFF in the comments (below)!
