Olivia Wilde’s Met Gala 2026 dress is business in the front, party in the back

Don’t worry darling, Olivia Wilde is back at the Met.

The actress arrived on the Met Gala red carpet on Monday evening, wearing a black off-the-shoulder Thom Browne dress complete with a caged white tulle train.

Styled by Karla Welch, Wilde skipped the jewelry and wore her blond hair in down in beach waves.

The show-stopping gown nodded to the theme of this year’s Costume Institute fundraiser fête, “Costume Art.”

According to the Met, the corresponding museum exhibit “explores depictions of the dressed body across The Met’s vast collection, pairing garments with artworks to reveal the inherent relationship between clothing and the body.”

The “Booksmart” director is hardly the only one turning heads in Thom Browne lately.

Cara Delevigne wore a design with painted-on abs to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, while Teyana Taylor opted for a similarly artful style — complete with trompe-l’oeil curves — on the SAG Actor Awards red carpet.

It’s Wilde’s first time attending the gala since 2023, when she made headlines for wearing the same Chloé dress as Vogue China Editor-in-Chief Margaret Zhang for the “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty”-themed event.

But the “Don’t Worry Darling” star is certainly no stranger to one-of-a-kind looks, too.

She’s made sheer styles her signature over the years, whether wearing an open blazer at NYFW or a totally see-through dress on the red carpet.

It’s safe to say this year’s Met Gala theme was a perfect fit.
