Trump Nominates Fox News Contributor Nicole Saphier For Surgeon General

Radiologist and former Fox News opinion contributor Dr. Nicole Saphier will be nominated by Donald Trump for surgeon general, putting an end to speculation over whether the president’s previous pick, Dr. Casey Means, could get Senate confirmation.

Saphier is director of breast imaging at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s facility in Monmouth, NJ, and a regular commentator on both Fox News and Fox Business. She was described by Trump on Truth Social today as “a STAR physician who has spent her career guiding women facing breast cancer through their diagnosis and treatment while tirelessly advocating to increase early cancer detection and prevention.”

He added, “She is also an INCREDIBLE COMMUNICATOR, who makes complicated health issues more easily understood by all Americans.”

Means, a favorite of Health and Human Service Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has been under intense scrutiny for her skepticism of the childhood vaccine schedule. In a separate Truth Social post Thursday, Trump blamed Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy for “intransigence and political games” in the opposition to Means’ nomination.

“Nevertheless, despite Senator Cassidy’s intransigence and political games,” the president wrote, “Casey will continue to fight for MAHA on the many important Health issues facing our Country, such as the rising childhood disease epidemic, increased autism rates, poor nutrition, over-medicalization, and researching the root causes of infertility, and many other difficult medical problems. Casey, thank you for your service to our Nation!”
