Bérenice Bejo and Nassim Lyes reprise their respective roles of marine scientist Sophia and river police commander Adil who previously joined forces when killer sharks arrived in the Seine in the lead-up to the Paris Olympics triathlon swimming heats in the famed river.
Set three years later, the new film sees their characters reunite on another high-risk mission to track down Lilith, the original predator, in the shark-infested Seine when the center of the French capital becomes submerged.
Further cast members include Guillaume Gouix, Phillippe Bas, Manon Bresch and Anne Marivin
Aja, whose credits include the 2019 Florida hurricane set horror Crawl and Piranha 3D, has taken up the director’s baton from Xavier Gens, who directed the first film
“I love Paris, and I always wanted to make a shark movie, so it was an obvious yes when the opportunity came to take the story even deeper,” he said.
He also takes co-writing credits on the film with Gregory Levasseur, Frédéric Garcia, William Laboury, Gens and Fanny Talmone. Aja and Gens are also associate producers, with the latter’s longtime collaborator Vincent Roget producing under the banner of Let Me Be.
