Mysterious Disappearances Of Space & Science Experts Go Viral As Claims Of Potential Ties To UFO Research Spread Online

What in the world is happening here??

Mystery and concern are growing as the disappearances and deaths of several military officials and scientists appear unexplained. And what makes it even more bizarre are reports that there could be links to potential UFO research tied in.

It seems that for the past several years, we’ve been hit with one life-altering event after another. Between the COVID-19 pandemic shutting the world down, to Trump being voted out of office then reelected, disastrous wildfires, ICE brutality, new wars, to the release of the Epstein files, we’ve been moving at break-neck speeds. But in the background, steadily simmering through it all, has been the developing discussion of aliens and Unidentified Flying Objects. And said discussion has only grown and become more irrefutable.

In 2023, unidentified flying objects were spotted across the country by several spooked individuals. But a Congressional UFO hearing that summer brought everything into a chilling perspective. Former Air Force intelligence official David Grusch claimed he became aware of a highly-secretive UFO recovery program that allegedly retrieves and reverse engineers unidentified flying objects — and suggested the federal government has covered up its research on extraterritorial life for decades. Whoa.

But you might not have caught that with the way the news cycle goes these days! It seems like as fast as extraterrestrial (or interdimensional, depending on who you speak to) beings and UFOs come into the forefront of discussions, they’re pushed to the background or overshadowed by other breaking news. But now a string of steady deaths and disappearances in the world of high space knowledge is making headlines.

According to multiple reports, the following notable figures have either mysteriously vanished, never to be seen again, or died under what some may call mysterious circumstances since 2024. Authorities have not made or released any confirmed connections among them, but that hasn’t stopped a growing number of concerned reports to come about this strange series of events…

Frank MaiwalD – DECEASED

On July 4, 2024, Frank Maiwald, a NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory researcher, died in Los Angeles at 61 years old. The chilling part? A cause of death was never disclosed as reports claim an autopsy was either never performed or never released.

Anthony Chavez – MISSIng

On May 4, 2025, Anthony Chavez, a retired employee of the Los Alamos National Laboratory research and development lab in New Mexico disappeared. According to The Los Alamos Reporter, his friend Carl Buckland shared the following information on social media:

“He is active and intellectually engaged. It is very much out of character or circumstance for him to be out of touch with his family or friends for more than a day. He is my best friend, and we were in contact regularly. His car was locked and parked in his driveway. His wallet, car keys and personal items were in his home, so it appears that he left his home with the intention of not being gone for more than a few minutes. He did hike in Pueblo Canyon often, but it does not appear that he left home prepared for a hike, plus the weather was very inclement. He does not carry a cell phone.”

Monica RezA – MISSING

On June 22, 2025, NASA rocket scientist Monica Reza mysteriously vanished while on a hike in the Angeles National Forest with friends. Despite an extensive search, she has never been found.

Melissa Casias – MISSING

On June 26, 2025, Melissa Casias, an administrative assistant at Los Alamos reportedly disappeared from her home suddenly and her mobile devices were wiped clean. Per the DailyMail, former FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker worries there may be an alarming pattern here when it comes to high profile disappearances:

“In a classified lab, or just a high clearance lab, they would basically be in the know on what’s going on. And it wouldn’t be the first time their administrative assistant has been targeted.”

Jason Thomas – DECEASED

On December 12, 2025, Novartis researcher Jason Thomas strangely went missing, only for his body to be found three months later in a lake. According to People, his wife says everything seemed normal the night of his disappearance, though he had been struggling with the loss of his parents.

Nuno LoureirO – DECEASED

On December 15, 2025, Nuno Loureiro, the head of MIT’s Plasma Science and Fusion Center who “helped illuminate the physics occurring at the center of fusion vacuum chambers and at the edges of the universe,” was tragically killed during an attack in his home. Authorities determined his killer was none other than Claudio Manuel Neves Valente, the suspect in the Brown University mass shooting. Investigators learned Loureiro and Valente had known each other from their own university program days in Portugal.

Per MIT News, Loureiro was quite the genius:

“His research on magnetized plasma dynamics, magnetic field amplification, and confinement and transport in fusion plasmas helped inform the design of fusion devices that could harness the energy of fusing plasmas, bringing the dream of clean, near-limitless fusion power closer to reality.”

And also:

“On other fronts, Loureiro’s work in astrophysics helped reveal fundamental mechanisms of the universe. He put forward the first theory of turbulence in pair plasmas, which differ from regular plasmas and may be abundant in space. The work was driven, in part, by unprecedented observations of a binary neutron star merger in 2018.”

Carl Grillmair – DECEASED

On February 16, 2026, Carl Grillmair, the astronomer and astrophysicist at Caltech‘s IPAC science and data center for astronomy and planetary science, was eerily shot on his front porch. Authorities named Freddy Snyder as the suspect in his murder, and no known motive has since been revealed. The latest reporting around Snyder is that his arraignment had been postponed from its originally scheduled date to April 29.

A news bulletin by Caltech praised the scientist’s many accomplishments:

“Over the course of nearly 30 years at IPAC, Grillmair worked on numerous projects, including as a quality assurance scientist and pipeline operator at the NEOWISE Science Data Center—NEOWISE was a NASA mission that used a space telescope to hunt for asteroids and comets in our solar system, including those that could impact Earth. He also served as the instrument characterization specialist for NASA’s upcoming Near-Earth Object Surveyor (NEO Surveyor) mission.

Recently, he began a project to test new instrumentation at Caltech’s Palomar Observatory to monitor for meteor impacts on the Moon’s surface during an upcoming lunar eclipse. “It is a really exciting project, and I know he was looking forward to seeing what we could learn about the near-space environment from that,” says Joe Masiero, NEO Surveyor lead scientist at IPAC, where he was Grillmair’s colleague and collaborator.

Grillmair was the recipient of the 2011 NASA Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal and numerous NASA Group Achievement Awards, and he was named to the MacLean’s magazine honor roll in 2006 as one of “Thirty-Nine Canadians Who Make the World a Better Place to Live.”

Over his research career, Grillmair was awarded more than 400 hours of Hubble and Spitzer Space Telescope time as a principal investigator (PI) and more than 2,700 hours as a co-PI, and published 147 peer-reviewed papers, with three in preparation at the time of his passing.”

William Neil McCasland – MISSING

All these deaths and disappearances really came to a head when William Neil McCasland went missing on February 27, 2026. The retired Air Force Major General was last seen at around 11 a.m. that day in Albuquerque, New Mexico. According to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, a silver alert was issued, and investigators said he strangely left his cellphone, prescription glasses, and wearable devices at home. In March, detectives told Newsweek they are trying to determine whether his disappearance is linked to that of Reza, as she worked under McCasland on a government‑funded rocket materials project.

Is this all not totally chilling, or what?!

Missouri Republican Eric Burlison has since become a prominent advocate for more investigating to be done in the disappearances, even calling on the FBI to get involved. He told Fox News:

“It’s remarkable that General McCasland apparently walked out of his home, left all of his devices and never came back. And Monica Reza, she was on a hike as well and mysteriously disappeared. And I’ve heard of others…”

At the time of McCasland’s disappearance, Burlison even alleged the scientist had “a lot of information” on UFOs, calling his disappearance “really disturbing.”

Tennessee Republican Tim Burchett has also spoken to Fox News about the disappearances, saying they’ve had “a real chilling effect” in recent years.

“People don’t want to talk about this issue of Unidentified Flying Objects anymore, and it’s kind of difficult to get to people because they are afraid … I just wanna know what we’re spending tens of millions of your hard-earned tax dollars [on].”

Sooooo eerie. What are your thoughts, Perezcious readers? Is this all just the overthinking of some conspiracy theorists, or a legitimate concern? Could nefarious agents be after United States intelligence? Are the concerns for sabotage legitimate? Could there be something even weirder going on? Or is this likely just a case of eerie coincidences? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
