Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, had quite the fright during a walk near his new home in Sandringham this week.
According to The Telegraph, a man wearing a balaclava, or ski mask, was arrested after allegedly threatening the former Duke of York on Wednesday. The alleged incident took place on public land near Sandringham Royal Parkland and close to Marsh Farm, where Andrew now lives after getting evicted from Royal Lodge when King Charles III stripped him of his titles amid the Epstein scandal.
The man, who Norfolk Police later identified as 39-year-old Alex Jenkinson of Stowmarket, Suffolk, sat in his car, got out, and shouted at the disgraced royal when he was reportedly walking his dogs about 50 yards away. While accompanied by a member of his private security team, Andrew reportedly “rushed towards his own car, parked nearby, and drove away at speed as the suspect allegedly tried to sprint after him.”

The Norfolk Police told People that officers were called to the scene after 7:30 p.m. that day “following a report a man was behaving in an intimidating manner in the village.” Jenkinson “was arrested on suspicion of a public order offense and possession of an offensive weapon” and “was taken to King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre for questioning.” However, he has since been charged with “two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior to harass someone or cause alarm or distress and failing to provide a specimen of blood in custody.”
Per a news release, Jenkinson appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court on Friday, where he “pleaded not guilty to both counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to harass someone or cause alarm or distress.” He has been released on conditional bail, so he is not allowed to enter Norfolk, be in the vicinity of royally owned premises in the UK, or contact Andrew. Jenkinson also pleaded guilty to “failing to provide a specimen” and was issued an interim disqualification from driving. He is expected back in court on July 29.
At this time, Andrew has not reacted to what allegedly happened. The Telegraph reported the incident rocked Charles’ brother, and he was asked to give a statement to the police, along with his security member. A source added:
“This shows why Andrew’s security provisions need to be proportionate and properly balanced for an individual with a very high profile. Surely this demonstrates why his security should be reviewed.”
As you may know, King Charles reportedly cut Andrew’s $1.3 million annual personal allowance. He even stopped paying for his personal security in 2024 — all steps taken to distance himself from his younger sibling amid the backlash over his ties to the late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Whether the monarch will reconsider following this incident, we’ll see. But it doesn’t seem likely, unless the royal family wants to face more public backlash over their handling of the scandal!
