SPOILER ALERT: This post contains plot details for Episode 4 of Margo’s Got Money Troubles, titled “Buddies.”
Nicole Kidman’s Lace enters the ring in the latest episode of Margo’s Got Money Troubles, and her character is a new addition to the story in TV form versus Rufi Thorpe’s novel, on which the show is based.
Lace was part of the duo Leather & Lace, and she catches Jinx (Nick Offerman) at a wrestling Fan Expo he attends with Margo (Elle Fanning) to show her what his past life looked like. The two go way back, seen when Jinx watches an old tape of him wrestling both Leather & Lace.
Showrunner David E. Kelley joked that they were “trying to get poor Nicole some work wherever we can help her out and boost her career.” He also wasn’t sure if Kidman would be game for the hybrid character.
“I joked before, but it was only half a joke. I thought, ‘Okay, we’re going to throw this character at her, a lawyer slash wrestler, and Nicole is going to say, ‘Now you’ve taken it too far. I’m not going to do that.’ But she embraced it,” Kelley told Deadline. “She [said], ‘Okay. Can I jump in the ring and actually wrestle?’ And she was fantastic in it. She was believable in the ring, and she was believable as a lawyer. So there’s a reason she gets all those job opportunities. She’s pretty good at her craft.”
Though Leather is now dead to Lace, who has since graduated from law school following the end of her wrestling career, she and Jinx put on a show in the ring for the fans at the wrestling convention, choreographing moves that look real. Unfortunately, Lace delivers a kick that knocks Jinx on his back, inflaming an old injury.

“The most fun we had were the days that Nicole was on set,” EP Eva Anderson added. “Because she just brought such crazy, fun energy.”
While bedridden following the smackdown, Jinx does share with Margo that he understands her OnlyFans work better after attending the expo because it helped him realize “we’re all just putting on a show.” Earlier on in the episode, he had walked in on Margo and Susie (Thaddea Graham) taking pictures for her account, and he hadn’t been happy.
New episodes of Margo’s Got Money Troubles arrive weekly on Wednesdays.
