EXCLUSIVE: Rising L.A. comic Leslie Liao has announced that her debut hour special, Silky Smooth, is out now for exclusive early access via 800 Pound Gorilla, with a YouTube release slated for Tuesday, April 28 at 5 p.m. PST.
In Silky Smooth, Liao explores the chaotic stages of adulthood, scheduling fun plans with tired friends, the unfair treatment of single people, being attracted to silly men, and the fear of being a role model to her pretend children. Check out a trailer below.
We previously profiled Liao a few years ago when she went from working in HR at Netflix to her own short set as part of their stand-up series Verified Stand-Up. She told us today, “What the world desperately needs now is more content. My first hour is the beautiful result of living as a confident, angry, tired woman. Performing this hour live around the world has been a dream and I’m truly proud of it and excited for you all to see it.”
A stand-up comic, actress, and writer who was named a New Face at Just for Laughs Montreal in 2023, Liao has twice been seen performing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. In addition to touring globally and headlining to sold-out crowds, she has opened for some of the biggest names in comedy, including Fortune Feimster and Ronny Chieng. She is repped by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
