Kristi Cook’s ‘Weekly Teacap’ Lands Audio-Video Deal With The Roost

EXCLUSIVE: Kristi Cook, the entertainment journalist and founder of the pop culture platform Spill Sesh, has struck an audio-video partnership for her podcast Weekly Teacap with The Roost.

The deal, which lasts one year, is designed to scale the show’s advertising, sponsorship and distribution opportunities.

The Roost, the podcast network that hosts podcasts such as This Past Weekend with Theo Von, will provide Weekly Teacap with sales representation and strategic support across monetization, hosting and platform distribution. Cook will retain full ownership of the intellectual property and creative control of the show.

“This partnership is incredibly exciting,” said Cook. “The Roost really understands the vision for Weekly Teacap and how fast this space moves. They’re as passionate as I am about bringing in partners in a way that feels seamless with the content. The creative conversations we’ve had already make me even more excited for what’s ahead. It feels like the start of something bigger and more elevated for the show.”

The deal marks a step in the former TMZ journalist’s plan to transform Weekly Teacap into a multi-platform franchise and build out her digital ecosystem. In addition to Teacap, Cook is the co-founder and co-host of Popity, a Studio71 podcast.

Cook first came to attention as the creator of Spill Sesh, a YouTube’ pop culture commentary channel that now has nearly 500 million lifetime views. She revealed herself after five years anonymously running the channel in a New York Times interview.

Cook and Weekly Teacap are represented by UTA.
