Katie Conway has been promoted to executive producer of Robin Roberts‘ development and production unit at ABC News Studios.
The unit creates unscripted projects for ABC, Disney+ and Hulu.
Conway joined the unit in 2023 when it was launched, serving as senior producer. In her new role, she will lead development and expand its slate of pop culture, news and crime. She will continue to be based in Los Angeles, and report to Mike Kelley, the head of ABC News Studios. The unit is separate from Roberts’ Rock’n Robin Productions.
Roberts, the Good Morning America co-anchor, said in a statement, “I’ve seen firsthand what it takes to turn these meaningful stories into powerful specials, series and documentaries, and no one approaches this work with greater instinct, care or talent than Katie Conway.” Kelley said that ABC News Studios will announce the unit’s single subject biopics later this year.
Conway’s work has included primetime specials with celebrity figures including Kerry Washington and Gisele Bündchen, and news specials including Prisoner in Russia: The Brittany Griner Interview and Hurricane Katrina: 20 Years After the Storm. She also produced the special Lainey Wilson: Bell Bottom Country and the docuseries Murder Has Two Faces. She previously was supervising producer at GMA.
