Out of all the streaming platforms available today, Netflix has the largest number of members. It has over 300 million subscribers worldwide, all of them paid users. In 2020, Netflix discontinued its free trial, which had been available for years.
Netflix currently features some of the most popular shows and documentaries, including Trust Me: The False Prophet, Apex, Noah Kahan: Out of Body, Big Mistakes, and Beef. Without a subscription, you risk missing out on those “water cooler” conversations at work, where everyone seems to be talking about shows you haven’t seen.
In addition to its on-demand library, Netflix also produces and streams live events, such as comedy specials and select WWE matches.
To access this content, users must pay a monthly subscription fee. While it’s not the only streaming service people typically subscribe to, costs can add up quickly across multiple platforms. Netflix’s standard plan with ads is around $8.99 per month, while the ad-free standard plan is about $19.99 per month.
How to Get Netflix for Free
As mentioned, Netflix no longer offers a free trial. While many users hope the guys in suits might bring this back in the future, there is currently no official way to get the service for free directly through Netflix.
However, there are a few alternative ways to access Netflix at no additional cost through certain bundled promotions.
One option is through T-Mobile, which offers a service called “Netflix on Us” with select plans. Eligible customers can get Netflix included at no extra charge. There’s also never been a better time to switch to T-Mobile, as the carrier is currently offering a free iPhone 17 with select plans.
Another option is through Comcast Xfinity. Some of its bundled offerings include packages that feature Netflix alongside other services such as Peacock Premium and Apple TV+ at no additional cost.
You can also access Netflix through DirecTV. While DirecTV does not include Netflix for free, it offers a five-day trial for its own streaming service plans. Netflix can be accessed as an add-on, with billing typically managed through your DirecTV account.
How Much Does Netflix Cost?
Netflix currently offers a few standard subscription tiers. The ad-supported plan is the most affordable option at around $8.99 per month. The standard ad-free plan is approximately $19.99 per month, while the premium plan is higher-priced at $26.99. Users also have the option to add extra members to their account for an additional fee.
