Hannah Waddingham & Ncuti Gatwa To Host ‘SNL UK’s Season 1 Episodes

Saturday Night Live UK has enlisted the final two hosts of its first season.

Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham and Doctor Who‘s Ncuti Gatwa will provide the star power for the concluding episodes of the inaugural season on Sky. They will be supported respectively by music from Brit Award winner Myles Smith and indie singer Holly Humberstone.

This weekend’s episode will be fronted by Sex Education actress Aimee Lou Wood, who wasted no time in confronting her unhappiness about SNL U.S. mocking her teeth last year. Previous presenters have included Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, Riz Ahmed, Jack Whitehall, and Nicola Coughlan.

As SNL UK approaches the home stretch, questions will begin to emerge about whether the show will be renewed for a second season at Sky.

A Deadline analysis last week revealed that the show is repeatedly going viral online, while TV ratings have settled at more than 100,000 live viewers, rising to as much as 784,000 with repeats and streaming. Coupled with a warm critical reception, it would be a surprise if Sky killed the series, which is backed by its parent company, Comcast.

SNL UK‘s cast members include Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, and Paddy Young.

The comedy is produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio’s UK production team and Broadway Video for Sky and NOW. Lorne Michaels is executive producing, James Longman serves as Lead Producer, Liz Clare as Director (episodes 1-5), Richard Valentine as Director (6-8), and Daran Jonno Johnson as Head Writer. UTAS UK Productions is overseen by Managing Director Helen Kruger Bratt.

Shanna Baynard serves as Executive in Charge of Production; Andy Charles Smith is the Lead Producer for UTAS UK Productions alongside Sam Salter, Production Executive. SNL UK was commissioned by Phil Edgar-Jones, Executive Director of Unscripted Originals and Lisa Clark, Commissioning Executive at Sky, for Cecile Frot-Coutaz, Chief Advertising and Content Officer, CEO Sky Studios.
