Gwen Stefani is all in her feels.
During No Doubt‘s opening show of their Las Vegas residency, the singer admitted while onstage at The Sphere:
“Some of these songs? Kinda painful.”
Oof!
She continued, saying it’s almost like “PTSD” for her to go back to those painful memories:
“You don’t feel that? Like, I feel like … I don’t even want to. Like, when I saw Return of Saturn … It gives me PTSD.”
Gwen said all this before diving into Ex-Girlfriend, a song she wrote about her and Gavin Rossdale‘s rocky relationship in 2000. Even at the start of their time together, Gwen couldn’t help but shake the feeling that one day she’d wind up his ex. In fact, many of the songs on the Return of Saturn album portray feelings of anxiety surrounding their passionate relationship. And although they would go on to get married in 2002, that love story came crashing down in flames in 2015 amid cheating allegations. So, yeah, with many of her songs being about the Bush frontman, we can imagine it’s “painful” indeed! Bringing up memories like that can’t be easy. We’re just glad the two can peacefully co-parent their three children these days.

Despite all the pain, though, Gwen said she’d always do it for the fans:
“But because I absolutely adore you guys, I’m gonna suffer! And I’m gonna sing!”
