Euphoria fans have expressed their horror at Nate (Jacob Elordi) and Cassie’s (Sydney Sweeney) brutal wedding episode with many comparing it to Game Of Thrones‘ ‘The Red Wedding‘.
Episode three of the HBO show shocked many fans primarily due to its gruesome ending: the newlyweds arrive home after their reception to find Nate’s debt collectors waiting to strike. They knock Cassie down and beat Nate to a bloody pulp before chopping off his pinky toe all while his bride watches and wails in horror.
The scene immediately sparked comparisons with GOT‘s ‘Red Wedding’ episode in season three, which saw several main characters being betrayed and murdered at a wedding feast.
“Cassie and Nate’s wedding was easily the second most chaotic wedding in television history only after the Red Wedding from GoT,” one fan wrote while another added: “I thought the red wedding was peak chaotic wedding… then Nate and Cassie said ‘hold my toxic champagne.’”
Another also said: “I think Nate & Cassie may have had the most depressing wedding this side of the Red Wedding.”

Elsewhere, Euphoria fans recently questioned the tone of the new season after a trailer showed Sweeney’s character Cassie in a series of highly sexualised “humiliating” outfits.
This followed previous clips that saw her posing as a dog on a leash, another point of contention for fans and critics, many of whom have argued it’s an extension of the hyper-sexualisation of Sweeney, who had previously asked show creator Sam Levison to cut nude scenes from season two.
In other news, the show’s lead composer Labrinth recently lashed out at the show and the wider industry, declaring he is “done” with it all, later explaining his departure by saying he will not “let people treat me like shit”.
He also commented further saying he refuses to “reduce” his music to “online fodder.
