Electric Entertainment has picked up world distribution rights to the feature film O Horizon and will launch international sales at the upcoming Cannes Market.
The film stars Maria Bakalova (The Apprentice) and David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck) alongside co-stars Adam Pally (Iron Man 3), Maggie Grace (Taken), Avi Nash (The Walking Dead), and Paulina Porizkova (Thursday). Variance will release the film in the U.S. on June 12.
The film’s synopsis reads: “O Horizon tells the story of a young neuroscientist (Bakalova) navigating an exhilarating new romance and a groundbreaking career discovery amidst the recent loss of her father (Strathairn). When an emerging technology suddenly allows her to speak with him again, it turns her life upside down.”
O Horizon was written and directed by Madeleine Rotzler (Dangerous Acts). The deal was negotiated by Ben Kim, Head of Development and Acquisitions, and Addie Booth, Manager of Acquisitions, at Electric Entertainment, and Robert Benun and Mark Gill on behalf of the film.
Dean Devlin, CEO of Electric Entertainment, described O Horizon as “incredibly relatable and superbly performed, with the perfect amount of comic relief to balance out its dramatic power.”
“We know that our audience will appreciate this film and what it says about moving forward – with the future of technology and with life after loss,” he said.
