UPDATED with additional names: It is a star-studded weekend coming up for Deadline’s annual Contenders Television, taking place Saturday and Sunday at the DGA Theater in Hollywood. One of our strongest lineups ever will bring out a who’s who of invited Television Academy and guild members who will get a real taste of what are going to be the most talked about shows this awards season.
Series set to appear on Saturday’s panels include Glen Powell, Perry Mattfield and Michael Waldron of Chad Powers; Pluribus stars Rhea Seehorn and Karolina Wydra; SNL cast members Ashley Padilla and Marcello Hernandez; Elsbeth’s Carrie Preston; Task star Tom Pelphrey and creator Brad Ingelsby; Half Man creator and star Richard Gadd; Scrubs leads Zach Braff, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke; Bait‘s creator-star Riz Ahmed; Wonder Man star Yahya Abdul Mateen II and co-creator/director Destin Daniel Cretton; Ted creator-star-director Seth MacFarlane and star Alanna Ubach; Margo’s Got Money Troubles’ Nick Offerman; Shrinking’s Michael Urie; Fear Factor: House of Fear host Johnny Knoxville; Fallout stars Aaron Moten, Kyle MacLachlan and Frances Turner; and Spider-Noir executive producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
Sunday’s lineup includes The Testaments stars Chase Infiniti, Lucy Halliday and Ann Dowd; Billy Bob Thornton, Andy Garcia and Sam Elliott from Landman; Shailene Woodley among four stars of Paradise; Quinta Brunson, Tyler James Williams, William Stanford Davis and Chris Perfetti of Abbott Elementary; The Audacity star Billy Magnussen; Myha’la, Kit Harrington and Marisa Abela, stars of Industry; the cast of Young Sherlock led by Hero Fiennes Tiffin; Love Island USA host Ariana Madix; The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke and star Jessie T. Usher to talk the series’ final season; stars Tom Hiddleston and Diego Calva of The Night Manager; co-creators Mindy Kaling and Ike Barinholtz of Running Point; star Grace Van Patten and executive producer Monica Lewinsky of The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox; IT: Welcome to Derry‘s Andy Muschietti; and the team of Jury Duty: Company Retreat.
All of that is just a sampling of who you can expect to see onstage sharing all the inside info on their shows. Contenders Television gets underway each day at the DGA with breakfast at 8 a.m. followed by panels beginning at 10 a.m.
