The Mexican American singer performed the cover at Billboard’s 2026 Latin Women in Music ceremony
Becky G put her Mexican pride on full display at Billboard’s 2026 Latin Women in Music ceremony with a cover of Mexican icon Selena Quintanilla‘s “Dreaming of You.”
The Mexican American singer leaned into the dreamier side of the track as she delivered her performance wearing a sequined white dress and matching headscarf. Becky G brought a rock edge to the second half of the song, when the guitarist onstage beside her delivered a show-stopping solo.
The singer used her moment onstage to share an inspiring message in Spanish: “Speaking of dreaming, for all of the dreamers here and at home, I want you to know that the most important thing is to continue dreaming.”
Later in the night, Becky G was honored with the Billboard Latin Women in Music Global Impact Award. During her acceptance speech, which she delivered in Spanglish, the singer spoke about her admiration for Quintanilla. “Obviously, Selena Quintanilla was a huge inspiration for me. Someone who showed us that we don’t have to choose between cultures or languages, and that we can be all of them at once,” Becky G said through tears.
She also gave a shout out to feminist activist Dolores Huerta. “Someone who, for many decades, has dedicated their life to activism, fighting against injustices faced by women and immigrants here in the United States. That kind of impact goes far beyond any stage,” Becky G said. She finished her speech by addressing “all of the women and girls” with a poignant reminder: “Your voices matter, you do not have to make yourselves small. Just be you. We deserve to dream without limits.”
