- The family comedy show premiered 25 years ago on June 17, 2000
- Since then, several of the series’ cast members have left Hollywood
It’s been 25 years since Even Stevens premiered.
The popular Disney Channel sitcom may have only aired for three seasons, but it made a lasting impact on fans thanks to its quirky sense of humor.
The series launched the careers of a number of its stars, including Shia LaBeouf, who won a Daytime Emmy in 2003 for the role of Louis Anthony Stevens, and Christy Carlson Romano, who went on to voice the leading lady in Kim Possible.
In honor of Even Stevens’ 20th anniversary in 2020, the cast held a virtual reunion on Zoom led by Romano and Nick Spano, who played Donnie Stevens.
“[The show] has such a dear place in a lot of people’s hearts,” Spano said during the reunion. “I’m very grateful to be a part of show that brings back so many positive experiences.”
So where is the Even Stevens cast now? Here’s everything to know about what the actors have been doing since the show ended.

LaBeouf was only 14 when he landed his breakout role as prankster Louis Anthony Stevens. The Los Angeles native still looks back on the role fondly.
“It’s all of our childhood,” the Fury actor told New Hive, per USA Today, after watching The Even Stevens Movie during his public, three-day screening of all his movies in 2015. “It’s mine and it’s yours. It wasn’t just me smiling like that. If you look at the freeze frames, everyone is smiling.”
After Even Stevens ended, LaBeouf made his way to the big screen and starred in hit films like Holes, Disturbia, Transformers, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Eagle Eye. He debuted his screenwriting talents in the 2019 autobiographical film Honey Boy.
In 2022, LaBeouf welcomed a daughter with his ex-wife Mia Goth.
The Megalopolis star has been embroiled in a number of controversies over the years. In 2020, his ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs sued him for physical, emotional and sexual abuse.
At first, LaBeouf apologized in an email to The New York Times, saying that he was “ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt.” He later denied “generally and specifically, each and every allegation,” per Vulture. The case is still ongoing — a trial date has been set for Sept. 29, 2025, according to the outlet.
In May 2025, the documentary Slauson Rec chronicled what Variety described as the “emotional terror” that happened at LaBeouf’s acting school, the Slauson Recreational Center Theater collective.
Over the years, LaBeouf has also been open about his sobriety journey.

Like many of the young stars on Even Stevens, Romano’s role as Louis’ perfectionist older sister Ren launched her acting career. Though she maintained a close relationship on-screen with her fictional sibling, she has said that she and LaBeouf were not as tight as they appeared.
“I felt like from day one, it was him and me,” she said in a 2021 YouTube video, per Entertainment Weekly. “It was like our show. But because it was so life-or-death for him, it was his show. And I was just around because I was a girl.”
After Even Stevens, Romano went on to star in another Disney Channel classic as the voice of Kim Possible, leading the animated series from 2002 to 2007.
The actress shifted to audio entertainment in 2022 with her debut podcast, Vulnerable. In 2023, she created the Even More Stevens Podcast with Spano and Steven Anthony Lawrence. That year, she launched a podcast company with her husband, Brendan Rooney.
Romano and Rooney share two daughters. As of 2025, Romano is working on a memoir, according to her Instagram.

After appearing on iconic shows like Melrose Place, The Young and the Restless, Sister, Sister and 7th Heaven, Spano landed his breakout role as the eldest child on Even Stevens.
During the 20th anniversary reunion, Spano expressed his gratitude for starring on the comedy.
“It was a show that people got familiar with at a very special in their lives when life was good,” he said.
Though the former child star continued to act after the Disney Channel show wrapped, Spano eventually left the spotlight. In 2024, he opened up Re/Creation, a cafe and community space in L.A.

Tom Virtue enjoyed a storied career before playing the morally driven patriarch of the Stevens family.
He appeared in major movies like 21 Jump Street and Public Enemy #2 as well as shows like Roseanne, Walker, Texas Ranger and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
After Even Stevens, he continued to act and landed a recurring role on the teen drama The Secret Life of the American Teenager, playing Reverend Stone from 2008 to 2013. He’s also appeared in films like Green Book and Iron Man 3.
Virtue has continued to guest-star on popular TV series. He went on to play Father Donovan on Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.

Donna Pescow became a breakout star in the 1970s after she acted alongside John Travolta in the hit film Saturday Night Fever. She went on to star in shows like Angie and Out of This World before landing her role as the no-nonsense matriarch of the Stevens family in 2000.
Though the on-screen family she cared for was fictional, she told Scene Creek in 2017 that it felt as real as any other.
“People always say, ‘we were a family’ when talking about TV shows. But in a funny way we were a family,” she said. “Watching [LaBeouf] and Christy mature as time went on and start to become really good actors was really quite wonderful.”
Pescow continued to act after Even Stevens wrapped, landing guest roles on shows like New Girl, The Flash and Grey’s Anatomy.

Lawrence joined the Even Stevens cast as the family’s pesky neighbor when he was only 9 years old. The young star already had credits on shows like Sabrina the Teenage Witch and That’s So Raven — and he came with a go-to “schtick” that helped him land roles.
“I would always tell a joke at the end of an audition,” Lawrence told Vice in 2021. “So, I told the Even Stevens producer a joke, and when I got the sides for the next callback, my joke was written in the script. I’m going, ‘Oh God, I hope I get the part because it’s going to be awkward if my joke’s in here and I’m not.’ ”
The Fresno, Calif., native went on to act in films like Cheaper by the Dozen, The Cat in the Hat and Kicking and Screaming. But he had to step away from acting as a teen to take care of his father, who later died of cancer.
Lawrence told Vice that he also started experiencing male pattern baldness at an early age, which made it harder for him to land roles.
In addition to occasional on-screen work, Lawrence co-hosted the Even More Stevens Podcast with Romano and Spano.

A.J. Trauth landed his breakout role as Louis’ best friend and prank partner, Twitty, in 2000.
He told the Even More Stevens Podcast in 2020 that the writers often drew from the young stars’ real lives, including Trauth’s love for music. He even started a “little band” with LaBeouf and Margo Harshman (who played Tawny Dean in the series), just like their characters did.
“The band was called Frankie and the Foreskins,” Trauth said. “We would always be playing guitar in the waiting room where people would come in to do auditions and stuff. We played a lot of music, so it was very easy for them to fold that into the show.”
After Even Stevens, he continued to guest star on shows like 7th Heaven, House and Kim Possible. Trauth then shifted into the production side of Hollywood and started developing shows for kids. In 2024, he served as the executive producer for the Hulu series Davey & Jonesie’s Locker.
Off-screen, Trauth was married to The Originals actress Leah Pipes from 2014 to 2019.

Harshman played Louis’ best friend (and secret crush) Tawny Dean. She described the show as “an indescribable and irreplaceable” part of her life in a 2011 interview with Media Mikes.
In addition to Even Stevens, the actress is known for playing Sylvia in the 2009 cheer movie Fired Up! and Brooke in the 2008 teen romance Keith. Harshman has also played Delilah Fielding on the hit crime series NCIS since 2013.
She was married to musician Austen Hooks for a little over a year before filing for divorce in 2018, per Extra.
