Osgood Perkins‘ next Longlegs movie with Nicolas Cage, which was won by Paramount, will be hitting theaters on January14, 2028, the studio said Monday. By the way, that’s MLK weekend. The only other movie currently on that early 2028 date is an untitled release from Disney.
The plot of the next Longlegs movie is under wraps. Producers on the project are Brian Kavanaugh Jones, Perkins, Chris Ferguson, Dave Caplan and Cage.
Paramount has minted moolah from the four-day MLK weekend recently with the openings of 2022’s Scream ($33.8 million) and 2024’s Mean Girls ($33.6M). The studio’s record MLK weekend opening belongs to 2008’s Cloverfield ($46.1M).
The first Longlegs movie, released by Neon in July 2024, opened to the distrib’s best domestic debut weekend ever with $22.4M and legged out to cumes of $74.3M domestic and $127.9M worldwide. Caplan’s C2 financed the first film for $10M, and Neon created a cult sensation with a deft, clever marketing campaign that cost in the high single digits.
The net profit on the movie was $48M.
