Dolly Parton, 80, reveals ‘bad’ health update in new video

Dolly Parton is canceling her Las Vegas residency in the wake of her ongoing health issues.

The 80-year-old country music legend shared the news in a social media video Monday, eight months after she postponed the residency from December 2025 to September.

“I have some good news and a little bad news,” Parton said in her video. “The good news is I’m responding really well to meds and treatments and I’m improving every day.”

But Parton’s “bad news” is that “it’s gonna take [her] a little while” before she’s “up to stage performance level,” so she’s canceling her planned six-show “Dolly: Live in Las Vegas.”

“I am truly sorry that I’m going to miss all of you that had tickets to see me in Las Vegas. Well, you get on to Vegas, and you have a big time… And I’ll see you somewhere down the line,” she said.

Parton continued, “I’m doing really well, and they assure me that everything I have is treatable, so I’m going with that, and I just want you to know I thank you for standing by me and that I will always love you.”

Later in her video, Parton addressed her husband Carl Dean’s death. He died in March 2025 at 82.

“A lot of you have been concerned about me and Carl, and you were so great about that,” she said. “But after going through a year of firsts, I mean the holidays, and especially our wedding anniversary, and the date of his death, March 3, that was hard for me.”

Parton explained she “will always love and miss” her late husband, before adding that everyone’s “love and concern” has helped her get through the tragedy.

In her caption, Parton thanked her fans for “standing by me and showing me so much love and support over the past year.”

She added, “I’ve still got some healing to do, but I am on my way! See you soon. 💖 🦋.”

Last September, Parton pulled out of an appearance at Dollywood due to kidney stones. In a taped video message to fans, she said she was following advice from her doctors to rest.

“Don’t worry about me, I’m gonna be OK,” she said. “Just can’t do it today.”

Later that month, Parton announced she was postponing her Las Vegas residency due to “health challenges.”

“My doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures,” she wrote via Instagram at the time.

The “9 to 5” singer also said that while she’s “still able to work on all of my projects from here in Nashville,” she needs “a little time to get show ready.”

Parton had to miss her 80th birthday celebration at the Grand Ole Opry in January due to her health struggles.

In a pre-taped video, Parton said, “I wish I could be there in person but I’ll be sending you all my love, for sure.”

She also told her fans to “have the best night ever.”
