Helena Bonham Carter exits ‘The White Lotus’ just days into filming Season 4

Helena Bonham Carter has checked out of “The White Lotus.”

Nine days after production kicked off in France for Season 4 of the HBO hit, the “Corpse Bride” actress exited the cast.

“With filming just underway on season four of ‘The White Lotus,’ it had become apparent that the character which Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter did not align once on set,” an HBO spokesperson said in a statement to People Friday. “The role has subsequently been rethought, is being rewritten and will be recast in the coming weeks.”

“HBO, the producers and Mike White are saddened that they won’t get to work with her, but remain ardent fans and very much hope to work with the legendary actress on another project soon,” the rep added.

Carter, 59, who is best known for her roles in “Fight Club” (1999), “Corpse Bride” (2005), “Sweeney Todd” (2007) and the “Harry Potter” films, has yet to address her exit.

Deadline was first to report the news.

Page Six has reached out to HBO and the actress for comment.

The upcoming season of “The White Lotus” takes place at a luxury resort in France during the Cannes Film Festival, per the show’s official press release.

The star-studded cast includes Rosie Perez, Max Greenfield, Kumail Nanjiani, Chloe Bennet, Heather Graham and Steve Coogan, AJ Michalka and Sandra Bernhard.

Meanwhile, Michalka recently opened up about White’s “quick process” of casting his characters.

“I think Mike just knows, as soon as he sees it,” she expressed on the “Just Trish” podcast in March. “He’s like this person is right. He’s so smart.”

That same month, Bernhard shared her excitment about joining the series, telling E! News: “What made me beg Mike White for 25 years as his friend, to say, ‘When are you writing me a star-turning role? Mike, what do I have [to do]?’”

The comedian — who is a longtime friend of the writer’s — gushed, “He loves me. We love each other. And he finally said, ‘This is it. This is the season.’ This is it, and it’s the right time.”

“The White Lotus” took place in Hawaii during Season 1, while Season 2 was shot in Sicily and the third season in Thailand.

And Season 3 star Jason Isaacs can’t wait for the new cast to experience the ride.

“I’ve got friends who are going to be in it,” he told Entertainment Tonight in January, “and they’re going to have the ride of their lives.”

“There aren’t many people, in fact there’s nobody, writing and directing like Mike White,” Isaacs stated.
