‘Beyond The Gates’ Renewed For Seasons 3 & 4 At CBS

Beyond the Gates isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. The latest CBS sudser has been renewed for two more seasons, the network revealed Wednesday.

That’ll take the soap opera through the 2027-28 season, which is a great sign of confidence from the network as Beyond the Gates continues to air its second season.

“Beyond The Gates immediately improved the time period, has enthusiastically been embraced by the daytime community and is getting good critical acclaim in the press,” CBS Entertainment boss Amy Reisenbach told reporters during a press briefing on Wednesday.

CBS did not provide any updates viewership stats on Beyond the Gates, but the series did come out swinging. The premiere episode of the daytime drama, which is the first to premiere since Passions in 1999, grew to 2.28M viewers in L+3 last year, up 78 percent from The Talk the year prior.

The series appears to be attracting attention on streaming as well. CBS said last year that L+3 streaming provided a boost of 13.6% over the show’s linear-only audience, which was better than The Young and the Restless (10.9%) and The Bold and the Beautiful (12.6%). The latter two are still among CBS’ top daytime dramas and buoy the daytime lineup that also includes long-running hits like The Price is Right and Let’s Make A Deal.

Beyond the Gates is set in a leafy Maryland suburb just outside of Washington, DC, in one the most affluent African American counties in the United States; a posh gated community with winding tree-lined streets and luxurious mansions to call home. At the center of this community are the Duprees, a powerful and prestigious multi-generational family that is the very definition of Black royalty. But behind these pristine walls and lush, manicured gardens are juicy secrets and scandals waiting to be uncovered. And those who live outside these gates are watching closely. These are the places where our characters live, love, work and play. Those who have “made it” and those who haven’t are all trying to navigate life … and some with more grace than others.
