The world of women’s sports is front and center in Roku‘s new Original documentary series Gamechangers.
The anthology initially will consist of three feature documentary films, each providing a beyond-the-headlines look at the forces reshaping the game on and off the field.
The first installment follows the journey of two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup champion Ashlyn Harris. in Gamechangers: The Ashlyn Harris Story. “Sharing her triumphs and defeats both on and off the soccer field, Ashlyn bares all, leaving viewers heartbroken at times and inspired at others,” according to Roku’s official description. It will debut June 8 on The Roku Channel.
Details on additional Gamechangers projects will be revealed at a later time.
Harris is a two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup champion and former U.S. Women’s National Team goalkeeper who has become one of the sport’s most celebrated and outspoken figures. Through interviews with Ashlyn, her family, and her former coaches and mentors, “Gamechangers” traces her journey from childhood to her college and professional careers and her post-retirement advocacy for LGBTQ rights and female athletes.

Gamechangers: The Ashlyn Harris Story is overseen by Sean Boyle and Louisa Lenander Friedman on behalf of Roku. It is produced by Firefly Studios. Sara Rea, Jane Lee, Cynthia Wade and Chet Fenster serve as executive producers.
