‘Euphoria’ Season 3’s Second Trailer Sets New Record For HBO

EXCLUSIVE: Euphoria Season 3 has already outdone itself, and the first episode doesn’t even premiere for 10 more days.

The second trailer, which debuted online Monday, hit 157M views within 48 hours, Deadline can reveal exclusively. That makes it the most-watched returning original trailer in HBO and HBO Max history during that timeframe, up 57% from the first Season 3 trailer’s previously record-setting 100M views in two days.

In the latest Season 3 trailer, Zendaya‘s Rue is interrogated by some Drug Enforcement Administration agents about some dealings in Mexico.

Season 3 of Euphoria is set several years after the main characters have graduated from high school, marking a pretty significant time jump for the series. The latest trailer also gives new glimpses at the rest of the returning cast including Hunter Schafer, Eric Dane, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, and Maude Apatow.

As we mentioned when Euphoria Season 3 first broke this record, not clear which series previously held it. HBO has touted the success of a few high-profile series trailers in the past, but not in the 48-hour timeframe. Last year, The Last of Us Season 2 delivered a record-setting trailer with 158M global cross-platform views in three days. In 2019, the network said the trailer for the final season of Game of Thrones was historic with 81M views in 24 hours.

Euphoria exploded after its first season and has only grown in popularity as many of its main cast have become stars in their own right. HBO says it is now one of the most-watched series in the network’s entire history.

The series left things on a high note in 2022 when the Season 2 finale drew a series record audience with 6.6M viewers across all HBO platforms. The season finale audience was up 30% from the previous week and surpassed the Season 1 finale in 2019, which earned 530,000 viewers.

Season 3 is likely to be the series’ last, though there is no official word on that yet.

Euphoria is written, directed, and executive produced by Sam Levinson. The series returns April 12 at 9 p.m. on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max.
