‘Elvis’ Producer Schuyler Weiss To Reunite With ‘How To Make Gravy’ Filmmakers Nick Waterman & Meg Washington On Musical Feature ‘Rosaleen’

How to Make Gravy filmmakers Nick Waterman and Meg Washington have set their next project, a feature film titled Rosaleen, that will be produced by Schuyler Weiss (Elvis).

The film is said to be a romantic musical inspired by the untold affair behind the birth of the Sydney Opera House. The project is being developed through Waterman and Washington’s production company, Speech&Drama Pictures.

The official synopsis reads: Set in 1950s Sydney, Rosaleen uncovers the true forbidden love story between Rosaleen Norton, the infamous ‘Witch of Kings Cross’, and Sir Eugene Goossens, the British conductor who spearheaded the creation of the Sydney Opera House at the height of his fame.

Waterman is the director, writer, and producer. Washington is the writer, producer, and composer.

Waterman and Washington previously collaborated on the feature film How to Make Gravy. Washington also wrote the original songs for The Deb, directed by Rebel Wilson, which closed the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival. Weiss was also a producer on How to Make Gravy.

“This forgotten true story is made for the cinema – we’re excited to bring this extraordinary chapter of Australian history out of the shadows and into the spotlight,” Waterman and Washington said in a statement.
