Joy Behar and the ladies of The View criticized Donald Trump’s impending military parade in Washington, D.C., also wryly noting the coincidence of the hoopla coinciding with the president’s birthday.
Frankly, Behar would only be interested in the parade if Stormy Daniels jumped out of a cake, she quipped. She also made a pointed note about the politicians who would not be in attendance, questioning the message that those absences ultimately send.
“You’ll be interested to know that only seven out of 50 congressional Republicans surveyed by Politico said that they were planning to attend,” Behar noted. “Seven out of 50, John Thune, majority [leader] and majority whip John Barrasso, that guy who’s always hanging behind him. He won’t be going.”
The list of folks went on: “Steve Scalise will not be going. Mike Johnson, the Speaker, he’s not going,” Behar continued. “Lindsey Graham, who happens to be a veteran, he is not planning to attend. Tommy Tuberville, big right-winger, excused himself because he has the gubernatorial campaign and he hasn’t got the time. And Markwayne Mullin said the date coincides with his anniversary, so he ain’t going either.”

Behar did, however, make note of some of the folks who will be in attendance: Republican representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene, Byron Donalds, and Elise Stefanik.
“We should note that originally when Joe Biden was in office, he reserved this day because it coincides with Flag Day and the anniversary of the U.S. Army to have some sort of a display on the National Mall to celebrate the Army,” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin added. “But there’s a lot of ways to do that. At that point, they were only planning to have about 300 soldiers and civilians. Now you’re talking about thousands of troops in D.C.”
Ana Navarro also reminded her fellow hosts that Trump had been lobbying for a military birthday parade for quite some time, “but back then he actually had adults around him,” she quipped, citing the likes of John F. Kelly, the retired U.S. Marine Corps general and Trump’s former chief of staff, and James N. Mattis, the former secretary of defense.
“Now he’s got the sycophants who say yes to every harebrained idea,” Navarro said, adding that she intends to participate in Saturday’s national “No Kings” protest, a day of peaceful defiance against the Trump administration’s policies.

It also comes amid Trump’s crackdown on immigration and his deployment of the National Guard to Los Angeles as protests against the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids continue.
“I’m gonna be protesting and I’m also going to be remembering all of those veterans who are dealing with deportation orders,” Navarro said, sharing that she intends to be at the Miami “No Kings” demonstration. “I am going to protest not because I hate my country, but because I love my country.”
After Griffin made note of the “military recruitment crisis,” Behar scoffed at the parade falling on Trump’s 79th birthday. “I will be interested if Stormy Daniels would jump out of a cake.”
Millions of protestors are expected at the “No Kings” demonstrations statewide, including in Washington for the military parade. The president has threatened to use “heavy force” against “any” protester on Saturday.
