A jury in Colorado federal court found that MyPillow founder Mike Lindell was liable for defaming an executive of Dominion Voting Systems in the aftermath of the 2020 election.

Lindell was one of the foremost conspiracy theorists in pushing claims that the election was stolen from Donald Trump. He has been a staunch defender of Trump’s, while his company has been a unbiquitous advertiser on Fox News and other outlets.

The jury awarded the executive, Eric Coomer, $2.3 million in damages, per the AP.

Coomer was the director of product strategy and security for the company, alleged that Lindell and his businesses had “gone out of their way” to target him. Among other things, according to the lawsuit, Lindell called Coomer “a traitor to the United States,” and accused him of treason. The rigging claims were published on Lindell’s website, at times alongside sales pitches for the pillows, per the lawsuit.

“Defendants further made claims against Dr. Coomer a centerpiece of a failed ‘Cyber Symposium’ that they organized, produced, and broadcast around the world,” per the lawsuit.

In the aftermath of the 2020 election, Lindell was a frequent guest on some media outlets on the right, while he continued to push his election claims. In dozens of courts, election challenges were rejected, while Trump’s attorney general concluded that there was scant evidence to show that the results were rigged.

Coomer settled other lawsuits he brought against Newsmax and One America News Network. Dominion Voting Systems also sued those networks, and settled a lawsuit against Fox News in 2023 for $787.5 million.

In an appearance on Rudy Giuliani’s show, which is part of Lindell TV, Lindell said that they were looking at appealing the jury’s decision. “This is all about lawfare.” “I am going to keep speaking out on our election platforms, and these machine companies and their affiliates that run our elections,” he said.

Giuliani called the verdict “measly,” noting that he “was a guy that they got a $148 million judgment against.” Giuliani was found liable of defaming two Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss.
