  • Netflix action-comedy FUBAR stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Monica Barbaro as father-and-daughter CIA operatives.
  • Carrie-Anne Moss, Enrico Colantoni, and Guy Burnet are new additions to FUBAR season 2.
  • The second season premiered on June 12.

FUBAR, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Monica Barbaro, is a little bit Mr. & Mrs. Smith and a little bit True Lies, with a father and daughter each learning the other has been secretly working as a CIA operative.

The Netflix series, created by Nick Santora (Prison Break, Reacher), mines its premise for equal parts action and laughs, peppering its supporting cast with as many comedians as it does badasses.

The first season found Schwarzenegger’s Luke and Barbaro’s Emma working to mend their strained relationship after a shared mission exposes their secrets. Since squaring off against an arms dealer played by Gabriel Luna on their last go-around, season 2 finds them staring down a new antagonist, an East German spy played by The Matrix‘s Carrie-Anne Moss.

Schwarzenegger’s name is in lights, but FUBAR is very much an ensemble show. Refresh yourself on who’s who (and where you know them from) with Entertainment Weekly‘s FUBAR season 2 cast and character guide.

There will never be another Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Austrian immigrant began his career as a bodybuilder before becoming a world-renowned actor, businessman, restaurateur, and politician, having served as the 38th governor of California from 2003 to 2011.

Throughout the ’70s, Schwarzenegger appeared in an odd variety of projects. He was credited as Arnold Strong (and dubbed over) in Hercules in New York (1970) before finding his footing as a mobster in Robert Altman’s enduring The Long Goodbye (1973) and winning a Golden Globe for Bob Rafelson’s Stay Hungry (1976).

The next year, his fame reached a new echelon after the release of Pumping Iron, a docudrama that highlighted Schwarzenegger’s strange charisma and filthy sense of humor.

The actor thrived in the ’80s and ’90s, establishing himself in the realms of action, comedy, and family fare with leading roles in Conan the Barbarian (1982), The Terminator (1984), Kindergarten Cop (1990), and Jingle All the Way (1996), among many other box office hits (and a few flops).

After serving as governor, Schwarzenegger starred in films like The Last Stand (2013), Sabotage (2014), and Maggie (2015). He also returned to the Terminator franchise in Terminator Genisys (2015) and Terminator: Dark Fate (2019).

On FUBAR, Schwarzenegger’s first leading role on a scripted series, he plays Luke Brunner, a veteran CIA operative whose covert work intertwines with his family life.

Speaking with AMFM Magazine ahead of season 2, the actor acknowledged the difficulties of shooting action scenes in your golden years, but said it’s worth it. “No matter how much discomfort there is, it’s temporary. But the movie or the TV show, in this case FUBAR, will be permanent.”

Monica Barbaro as Emma Brunner

Monica Barbaro was nominated for an Academy Award for her mellifluous turn as singer-songwriter Joan Baez in A Complete Unknown (2024). Prior to that, the former ballerina costarred in Top Gun: Maverick (2022) and helped lead series like Chicago Justice (2017) and The Good Cop (2018).

She’ll next appear opposite Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, and Halle Berry in Bart Layton’s Crime 101.

On FUBAR, Barbaro plays Emma Brunner, the daughter of Schwarzenegger’s Luke and a crack CIA operative in her own right.

Speaking with Variety in 2023, Barbaro discussed the fast-paced nature of shooting an action-oriented series. “This was like, new-week, new-trick, like you’re flipping over the back of somebody, and you’re parkouring off the side of a car. There was always something new, and there really was not a lot of time to rehearse it,” she said.

She continued, “We would find 15 minutes in my lunch break, or between setups we’d shoot in the office, and they would be like, ‘Hey, between those two scenes, can you just, like, run over here and try to flip over someone’s body, then go back to set and sit down in the CIA office?’ That constant pivoting was something. I’m not sure I ever totally rested.”

Carrie-Anne Moss as Greta Nelson

After breaking through with her steely, sexy Trinity in The Matrix (1999), Carrie-Anne Moss starred in several films (Memento, Fido, Pompeii) and helped lead Matrix‘s three sequels.

She’s been more present on the small screen over the past decade, notably playing Jeri Hogarth on Marvel’s Jessica Jones (2015–2019), Daredevil (2016), Iron Fist (2017), and The Defenders (2017). Most recently, she played Indara on the Disney+ Star Wars series The Acolyte (2024).

A new addition to FUBAR, Moss joins season 2 as Greta Nelson, a former East German spy who shares a romantic history with Schwarzenegger’s Luke.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Schwarzenegger spoke about the excitement of working with Moss. After her name surfaced for the role of Greta, he told the outlet he was “overly enthusiastic about it, so they didn’t even look around anymore after that.”

Milan Carter as Barry

Milan Carter was a seasoned TV and web host before venturing into acting with roles in Dolemite Is My Name (2019) and the Nickelodeon series Warped! (2021).

The FUBAR team’s resident code-breaker, Carter’s Barry is a bespectacled nerd in the old-fashioned sense.

“Season two, we knew exactly what we were doing,” Carter told Far Out. “Season one, we were all deer in headlights. We had no idea what genre this was, what tone it was, how big we could play things. We were all a little bit lost, and we found our way together. And thanks to [executive producers] Adam Higgs, Nick Santora, and Phil Abraham, they helped guide us and let us know that this is a show mostly about family and figuring it out, while having to save the world at the same time.”

Fortune Feimster as Roo

Fortune Feimster has been a stand-up comic for years, appearing on NBC’s Last Comic Standing in 2010. Her transition to acting has been a fruitful one, with main roles on series like The Mindy Project (2015–2017), Champions (2018), and Bless the Harts (2019–2021). Her last stand-up special, Fortune Feimster: Good Fortune, aired on Netflix in 2023.

Feimster plays the smart-mouthed Roo, a CIA colleague of Luke’s. “It was certainly a trip to be offered this part because I just did not think anyone would think of me for an action part,” Feimster recently told Out. “So I was really excited to take on the role to just show people that this can look many different kinds of ways as far as delivering action and the type of person who can do it.”

Jay Baruchel as Carter Perlmutter

Baby-faced Canadian Jay Baruchel recently drew raves for starring as BlackBerry co-founder Mike Lazaridis in BlackBerry (2023). He’s also led films and TV shows like The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (2010), She’s Out of My League (2010), and Man Seeking Woman (2015–2017). For many, though, he’ll always be known as the voice of Hiccup Haddock in the How to Train Your Dragon franchise (2010–2019).

An old pal of actor and filmmaker Seth Rogen, he’s played leading and supporting roles in Rogen-affiliated projects like Undeclared (2001–2002), Knocked Up (2007), and This Is the End (2013).

Baruchel plays Carter, Emma’s sweet, in-over-his-head ex-boyfriend.

Speaking with Collider in 2023, Baruchel said he never got over acting alongside Schwarzenegger. “I never got used to it, you know?” he explained. “It was a constant thing to worry about because I was like, ‘I’ve got to act and I’ve got to be present,’ and someone said acting is reacting once, but meanwhile, I’m sure there’s a lot of rushes or dailies of me just in awe. It’s crazy, it’s still crazy. It was never not crazy.”

Travis Van Winkle as Aldon Reece

Chiseled actor Travis Van Winkle has a long string of TV and film projects under his belt, with highlights including Accepted (2006), Friday the 13th (2009), and Road House (2024). He played the lead role of Lieutenant Danny Green on TNT’s The Last Ship (2014–2018) and was a key figure in season 3 of the Netflix hit You (2021).

Van Winkle plays Aldon Reese, a goodhearted CIA officer carrying a torch for Barbaro’s Emma. “My character, he learns how to love this season,” he said in an interview with Screen Rant.

With Emma? No. “With an unexpected swine named Ham Steak,” he said.

Fabiana Udenio as Tally Brunner

Italian-Argentine actress Fabiana Udenio is a former “Miss Teen Italy” whose career has swept her through a diverse range of projects, from films like Summer School (1987) and Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997) to series such as Cheers (1989), 90210 (2008–2011), and Jane the Virgin (2015–2016).

As Tally, Udenio plays Emma’s mother and Luke’s ex-wife (for whom he still pines). In a 2023 interview, Udenio discussed how intertwined Tally’s life is with Luke’s. “She’s really moving on, but there is this connection between them and part of it is how important family is for Tally,” the actress said. “And for Luke, too, though he picked his job over her in a way and now he’s paying the consequences.”

Aparna Brielle as Tina

Aparna Brielle costarred with Glenn Howerton on the cult sitcom A.P. Bio (2019–2021), and is also known for her turns in Kevin Smith’s Jay and Silent Bob Reboot (2019) and the Netflix series Boo, Bitch (2021).

Brielle plays Tina, an NSA analyst revealed in season 1 to be a double agent. “I’ve always played these good girls, or sweet girls, or someone whose secrets are out there for the audience from the beginning. It was different, playing a character where I had to keep a secret the whole time,” she told TV Fanatic.

She continued, “Tina is not going to show it, but I do feel that she is conflicted. This is a group of people who have welcomed her in like family and are very loving to Tina and kind to her. And being a Russian double agent and being from this very cold, very transactional world of spycraft, it’s different for her.”

Scott Thompson as Dr. Louis Pfeffer

Scott Thompson will always be one of the Kids in the Hall — he played countless characters on both the original series (1988–1995), the revival (2022), and various spinoffs and films — but he’s also appeared in dozens of series and movies across his four-decade career.

Standouts include roles on Reno 911! (2009) and Hannibal (2013–2015), as well as his turn as Brian, personal assistant to Jeffrey Tambor’s Hank, on The Larry Sanders Show (1995–1998).

Thompson plays Dr. Louis Pfeffer, the put-upon psychiatrist tasked with fixing the fissures in Luke and Emma’s relationship during joint therapy sessions.

Guy Burnet as Theodore Chips

English actor Guy Burnet is a TV regular, having appeared on multiple episodes of popular series like Ray Donovan (2015), Chicago Fire (2016), and Minx (2023). Over the past few years, he’s appeared in big-budget projects like Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-winning Oppenheimer (2023) and Netflix’s 3 Body Problem (2024).

Another new addition to season 2, Burnet plays Theodore Chips, a rogue MI-6 agent serving as a mercenary for Moss’ Greta.

Enrico Colantoni as Reed

Enrico Colantoni’s long career includes leading roles on hit series like Just Shoot Me! (1997–2003), Veronica Mars (2004–2019), and Person of Interest (2011–2016).

You may also recognize him from the fiercely beloved Galaxy Quest (1999) and films like Steven Spielberg’s A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) and Marielle Heller’s A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019). He’s currently costarring as mealy-mouthed Principal Moretti on FX’s English Teacher (2024–present).

Colantoni’s Reed is also a new addition to FUBAR season 2.

Miley Cyrus features one of her ex’s parents in a major way in her new visual album.

The 32-year-old musician premiered the movie musical, “Something Beautiful,” which accompanies her ninth studio album of the same name, at the Tribeca Film Festival. The film acts as a visual album, showcasing the record’s 13 songs with visuals and music videos which enhance the album’s overall message and theme.

Among the visuals included in the film is Cyrus strutting down the Hollywood Walk of Fame, before lying down on top of “The Terminator” star, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s star on the historic sidewalk, as part of the music video for the song “Walk of Fame,” featuring Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, per People.

Cyrus famously dated the actor’s son, Patrick Schwarzenegger, for one year, from 2014 to 2015.

MILEY CYRUS RESPONDS TO FRUSTRATED HECKLERS WITH SURPRISE PERFORMANCE AT TRIBECA FESTIVAL

The “Hannah Montana” star previously opened up about filming on The Hollywood Walk of Fame during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in which she told the talk show host her “leg began to disintegrate” after filming.

“And then the doctor goes, ‘Do you have any idea why you would have such a brutal infection on your kneecap?” she said on the show. “To have a surgeon look at you and say, ‘Yuck…’ They open up cadavers. They see inside the guts of humans and they’re looking at me, telling me I’m disgusting. And they do brain operations!”

After the film’s premiere on Friday, Cyrus sat down for a Q&A panel, where she was met with hecklers demanding she sing, with one fan shouting, “We thought this was a concert! We paid $800!” as heard in a video posted to X.

Following multiple other outbursts from fans, Cyrus began to sing her 2009 hit, “The Climb,” and the whole thing turned into a sing-a-long, with the crowd joining in.

He and his dad recently appeared on Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series in which they discussed their respective careers.

“It was a great conversation. It was kind of a really cool moment for me to be able to have that conversation with my dad, hear about his kind of journey at the beginning of his film career, and how our different careers differ,” he told Fox News Digital about the conversation. “What it was like for him to work with certain directors and writers like James Cameron, how they differ from Mike White.”

His parents, the “True Lies” star and journalist, Maria Shriver, separated in 2011 after 25 years of marriage after Arnold confessed to fathering a child with the family’s housekeeper during their marriage. They have remained close, however, having been seen together on social media celebrating milestone events.
