CANNES — Spotify kicked off day one of Cannes Lions 2025 on Monday with a star-studded soirée at a lavish villa featuring a special performance by Charlie Puth.
While onstage, the singer-songwriter teased exciting news about his forthcoming album.
“I’m currently finishing my fourth record off of FaceTime right now,” he said. “I can’t wait for all of you to hear it. A lot of piano. A lot of piano.”
The 33-year-old crooner, who has had several tunes hit 1 billion streams on Spotify, then serenaded the crowd with his hits including “We Don’t Talk Anymore” and “See You Again.”
Puth also went on to explain how he was introduced to Spotify through one of his followers.
“Fun fact, before Spotify came to America — this was back in [2011], 2012 — I had a little bit of a YouTube following and one of my followers was from New Zealand,” the musician recalled, explaining he had never heard of the music platform and even asked the fan for their login info to see what the buzz was about.
“Can I just use your login to see what it’s like?” Puth recalled. “And it was just as amazing then as it is right now, so thank you for having me.”
The starry group of guests included NBA player Kyle Kuzma and his fiancée, supermodel Winnie Harlow, who was spotted singing along to Puth’s performance.
“Summer House” stars Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula, “The Traitors” alum Dylan Efron, comedian Bowen Yang, Former “Bachelorette” Rachel Lindsay, podcaster Jake Shane, actor Matt Rivera and TV scientist Bill Nye were also among the party guests.
Each attendee was greeted with a flute of Moët & Chandon champagne upon entering the bash.
The coterie munched on chicken sandwiches and French fries by MoSugo, as well as tasty passed hors d’oeuvres that included fresh oysters.
