Beyoncé has capped another run of her Cowboy Carter tour, and the Grammy winner took to social media to celebrate.
On Monday, the 43-year-old shared several photos from her six-show run at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Instagram. The singer also took the moment to show some love for Sir Paul McCartney, who wrote the Beatles’ iconic song, “Blackbird,” which Beyoncé covered on her Grammy-winning album.
“Thank you, Sir Paul McCartney, for writing one of the best songs ever made,” the singer captioned the carousel of photos in which she wears a white tee adorned with two blackbirds, crediting McCartney’s fashion designer daughter, Stella McCartney. “Every time I sing it I feel so honored. And it is a full circle moment to wear your beautiful daughter’s design.”
“Thank you, London, for creating unforgettable memories for me and my family,” Beyoncé added. “Holla at ‘ya when I come on tour again!”
The former Beatle has previously shared his enthusiasm for the Cowboy Carter rendition of the song, which he originally wrote in 1968.
“I am so happy with @beyonce’s version of my song ‘Blackbird,'” McCartney wrote on Instagram a few days after the album dropped last March. “I think she does a magnificent version of it and it reinforces the civil rights message that inspired me to write the song in the first place. I think Beyoncé has done a fab version and would urge anyone who has not heard it yet to check it out. You are going to love it!”
McCartney went on to say that Beyoncé called him to discuss the song. “I spoke to her on FaceTime and she thanked me for writing it and letting her do it,” he wrote. “I told her the pleasure was all mine and I thought she had done a killer version of the song. When I saw the footage on the television in the early ’60s of the black girls being turned away from school, I found it shocking and I can’t believe that still in these days there are places where this kind of thing is happening right now. Anything my song and Beyoncé’s fabulous version can do to ease racial tension would be a great thing and makes me very proud.”
Beyoncé’s version of the song, titled “Blackbiird,” also utilizes McCartney’s original acoustic guitar track from the Beatles’ self-titled album (a.k.a. The White Album), and features a number of additional Black artists, including Brittney Spencer, Reyna Roberts, Tanner Adell, and Tiera Kennedy.

The modern rendition has had a lasting effect on Beyoncé collaborators, who revealed that they got matching tattoos to commemorate their time recording the track.
Spencer, Roberts, Adell, and Kennedy did not get identical tattoos, opting instead to personalize their blackbird designs, which were inked by tattoo artist Hannah Matthews. Roberts shared the story with Billboard on the 2024 CMT Awards red carpet.
Matthews also shared photos, including close-ups of the art and portraits of the singers. “Long story short— these stunning, sweet sweet, AMAZINGLY talent black female country artists (@tanneradell @brittneyspencer @thereynaroberts @tieramusic) were featured on Beyoncé’s new country album!!!” she wrote on Instagram.
“I was lucky enough to be able to give them each a blackbird tattoo to commemorate this milestone and great achievement in their career,” Matthews said. “Once again, feeling like my life is a movie and I don’t know how I got here. Forever grateful to have spent time with each of these empowering women!!”
