EXCLUSIVE: Amazon MGM Studios has rounded out its core cast for faith-based drama series It’s Not Like That with Caleb Baumann (Parish), Cary Christopher (Days Of Our Lives), and newcomers Leven Miranda, Cassidy Paul and Liv Lendell joining as series regulars. They join series leads Erinn Hayes, Scott Foley and J.R. Ramirez.
Created by Ian Deitchman and Kristin Robinson, who also serve as showrunners, It’s Not Like That follows Lori (Hayes), who is freshly divorced with two teens. Malcolm’s (Foley) a minister and recently widowed dad of three. Their families once did everything together, but now Lori and Malcolm must navigate their newly minted singledom, parenthood and the complexities of Malcolm being a modern-day minister. Is this the beginning of a love story? It’s not like that. Or is it?
Miranda, Paul and Christopher will play Flora, Penelope and Justin, respectively, as Malcolm’s (Foley) children in the series; and Baumann and Lindell portray Lori’s (Hayes) children, Merritt and Casey, respectively.
Ramirez plays the series regular role of David, Lori’s ex-husband.
Deitchman and Robinson executive produce alongside Garret Lerner. Additional executive producers include Jon Erwin, Justin Rosenblatt, and Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten for Wonder Project, Alex Goldstone (Dickinson) for 42 & Anonymous Content and Kingdom Story Company. Seth Yanklewitz & Ben Pollack serve as casting directors. Brad Silberling will direct the pilot episode.The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios.
Baumann’s recent screen credits include AMC’s Parish, Grey’s Anatomy, Disney Channel’s Raven’s Home, HBO’s Doom Patrol, and Clint Eastwood’s The 15:17 to Paris. He will also appear in the upcoming feature California Skate. A seasoned stage performer, Baumann also has appeared in several Atlanta theater productions. He’s repped by Myrna Lieberman Management.
Christopher’s breakout role came at the age of three in streaming series Mr. Mom. He went on to play Thomas DiMera on Days of Our Lives, earning a 2023 Daytime Emmy nomination for his performance. Cary will make his feature film debut this summer in Warner Bros’ Weapons. On the teleivision side, he will be seen in a recurring role on Prime Video‘s upcoming series Spider-Noir, led by Nicolas Cage. Other television credits include Fuller House, American Horror Stories, Station 19, NCIS, The Rookie, 9-1-1, and High Potential. He’s repped by Zuri Agency, Evolve Talent Management, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes.
Miranda is a recent graduate of Chapman University’s College of Performing Arts. She will next be seen in a guest lead role in Netflix’s upcoming series The Gringo Hunters. Miranda is managed by Cultured Artists.
Lindell’s film roles include Saverio!, directed by Ellen Ancui and The Secret Village, directed by Bruce Nicholson. Lindell, a student at the Performing Arts Academy of Marin, is repped by Stars Management.
Paul’s role in It’s Not Like That marks her television acting debut. She most recently performed in community and regional theatre productions including Mean Girls, School of Rock, Bring It On, High School Musical, Mary Poppins and A Christmas Carol. Paul is repped by Kogen Management and Innovative Artists New York.
