EXCLUSIVE: Jorge Xolalpa‘s immigration thriller Huehxolotl has added seven cast members.
Summera Howell (American Horror Story), Julia Gallagher (Black-ish), Andrew Ferguson (The Amazing Gayl Pile), Karla Ojeda (Marigold the Matador), Shelly Ro (Strangelove), Noelle Urbano (Strangelove) and Heather Yesenia (Break Even) will join the likes of Maya Zapata, Elyfer Torres and Alexis Vasquez in the Xolalpa feature about immigration issues in the U.S.
Specific character details remain under wraps, but we understand the seven will play key roles in a tense detainment scene central to the film’s narrative — portraying individuals who, each in their own way, bear witness to the illegal arrest of lead character Xochitl during a high-stakes ICE operation.
Xolalpa previously collaborated with Howell on Blue Line Station and Sweet Caroline, with Gallagher from Sweet Caroline, and with Ro and Urbano from Strangelove.
Xolalpa is producing the film through his Mighty Aphrodite Pictures imprint, alongside Alfredo Widman at Latin Entertainment Works. Production is slated to begin in summer 2025 in L.A. and Mexico.
The film comes as ICE agents continue to arrest individuals suspected of immigration offenses, with the Trump administration this morning reversing a directive to halt raids on farms, hotels and restaurants.
Legal experts and immigrant rights organizations have condemned many of ICE’s operations as unconstitutional and intimidatory. Huehxolotl, which Xolalpa wrote nearly five years ago, will ape many of the shocking real-world developments playing out across the states.
