She Was Feeling Anxious About Turning 25. Then Her Friend Gave Her a Gift That Moved Her to Tears (Exclusive)

A birthday gift that brought one 25-year-old to happy tears has captured the hearts of many on TikTok. 

The viral clip shows Jenna Hillman’s surprised reaction when she opens a gift that consists of a custom-made coloring book featuring pictures from her favorite memories with her loved ones.

For Jenna, turning 25 felt like a big milestone, but it was one that came with a mix of excitement and existential dread. “Honestly, leading up to my birthday, I was stressing out, because I was like ‘here comes my midlife crisis,’ ” Jenna jokes to PEOPLE. But any birthday anxiety quickly melted away when she unwrapped her gift and saw the thoughtfulness behind it. 

“I had no idea what it was going to be,” she recalls. “We did a big dinner with all of my best friends. We were going around doing gifts, and the box was really light. When I opened the box and it said ‘The Life of Jenna Rose: A Coloring Book’, immediately, I just started bawling.”

This book, entirely custom-made by her friend Olivia, wasn’t just a nod to Jenna’s love of coloring, but a tribute to the strength of her friendships. As she flipped through its pages it was filled with outlined photos of her with friends and family. 

“They included pictures from our trip to Italy this summer, which was so special,” Jenna shares. “And even my friend who doesn’t live in the state sent in pictures, and my sister who couldn’t make it to the dinner was included. It wasn’t just people at the dinner, but everyone I love.”

What made this gift even more special was the attention to detail. Olivia took the time to collect photos from Jenna’s friends and family, ensuring that every page told a story. “She designed the book from start to finish, even making a personalized cover. It was an incredible surprise,” the birthday girl shares. 

Jenna’s love for coloring started just two years ago when she realized she wanted a creative hobby. “I saw Bobbie Goods coloring books, and so I started with that, and I just loved it. I would color for three hours at a time,” Jenna says. 

She hasn’t started coloring in her birthday book just yet, but it’s only because she wants to do it justice. “I need to order new, fresh markers or colored pencils, because this one has to be good,” she says with a laugh. “I have to put my best work in this book.”

As for her friend Olivia, she may have just stumbled upon a genius business idea. “She’s turning it into a full-fledged business now, and I’m pushing her to do it, because this is really a good idea. I think all of our friends will be receiving a coloring book soon. It’s a staple gift,” she notes.

Beyond the sentimental and creative aspects, Jenna sees this viral moment as a celebration of girlhood. “One of the most important things in a woman’s life is having strong female friendships,” she shares. 

“We feel like we’re the luckiest girls in the world to have each other. Their love for me is a reflection of my love for them,” she continues. “We fill each other’s cups, and I just feel very lucky to be a part of a friend group like that.”
